The first personal essay I ever wrote was my college application essay. It felt awkward writing about myself, and I wondered whether what I wrote was boring. I ended up winning an award for my essay, and got a full-tuition scholarship to my top choice school.
After graduating with honors in English, I taught freshman English as a graduate instructor, helping my students develop the writing skills they would need throughout their college careers.
When it came time to apply to law school, I still felt unsure about writing a personal essay. The point is, even experienced writers can use a writing coach. The Dean of Admissions at a Top-10 law school said my essay was the best they had seen that year. I ended up at an Ivy League law school and went on to practice law for 20+ years in New York City.
Your college essay is personal, but that doesn’t mean you're on your own. I look forward to helping you create an essay you can be proud of.
